12pm: TPI Physical Screening (1 weeks)  Location: TOP Fitness

TPI Physical Screening

TPI Physical Screen is designed to find the physical limitations that are holding you back from playing your best golf.  Once we identify the limitations we will provide you with corrective exercises and motor learning drills to remover these limitations and have you playing and feeling your best.

 TPI screenings test two main components in the body:

1. Mobility (range of motion + flexibility)
2. Stability (balance + strength + muscular endurance)

Failed screen results likely indicate the true “root cause” to common swing deficiencies such as swaying, sliding, coming “over the top”, scooping, etc. The TPI screen also identify areas in the body susceptible to injury due to the one sided demands of the sport. 

The following are some of the main areas tested during the initial screening:

Pelvis and hip mobility
Thoracic mobility
Posterior chain muscular flexibility
Core Strength
Balance
Wrist, ankle and shoulder mobility

Most clients want to hit the ball farther but simply don’t have the physical ability to create a full shoulder or hip turn.  As a result they can’t create the proper swing sequence or enough rotation speed to really hit the ball a long way. Tour pros don’t have this problem, but most amateurs do. 

Example, if a golfer has an incomplete shoulder turn, it’s likely there is a physical limitation in the lat muscle, shoulder area or thoracic spine. Trying to get a client to “turn more” when they are physically unable to is illogical.  A TPI screening would verify this restriction and either a modification can be made to the instruction or an exercise program can be started to address the limitation.  A golfer can ONLY do what they are physically capable of doing…nothing more.

3pm-4:20pm: Performance Enhancement Program (T/Th - BG WLacrosse) (Jan 23 - Mar 12)  Location: TOP Fitness

Performance Enhancement

All sports require flexibility, power, speed/agility, strength, and stamina.  Our goal is to get players to excel in all these areas. Our Performance Enhancement Program will help each athlete improve their power and explosiveness for the movements needed on the field.  Every TOP Fitness training session is structured in an environment that is safe, competitive and fun.

Our training program is centered around these physical and educational components:

  • Flexibility - to restore/maintain healthy function of soft-tissue
  • Power - appropriate plyometric progressions to improve lower body & upper body power for improved jumping and rotational speed.
  • Speed/Agility - skills to maximize linear and multi-directional movement
  • Strength - functional strength for upper body, lower body and core for improved performance in your sport and in life.
  • Conditioning - proper sport conditioning to improve work capacity.

Our goal is to reduce the potential for injury for our athletes. Our proactive approach will place rehabilitation emphasis for these areas:

  • Mobility of the ankle, hip, and thoracic spine
  • Stability of the knee, back, and shoulder
